On the last Sunday of November, church leaders, parishes and Indigenous communities commemorated this anniversary. It was an opportune time to remind ourselves of the important words of Pope St John Paul II: 'You are part of Australia and Australia is part of you.' 1612eCatholic workers make pledge against domestic violence

More than 100 people made a human ribbon outside St Stephen's Cathedral in Brisbane on White Ribbon Day. This was followed by a public pledge from all the men in the group to support women in vulnerable and dangerous situations. Centacare family mediator Jesse Jones said that despite the number of disclosures increasing, there have been increases in the danger and lethality of violence.
