Office for Social Justice Director John Ferguson reflects on action against modern slavery and human trafficking. Earthcare Supports Proposed Climate Change Bill
Catholic Earthcare Australia has expressed ‘in principle’ support for a Private Members Bill on a (Climate Change) National Framework for Adaptation and Action. The Bill will set out a clear framework for national plans to be put in place and updated by the Australian Government, and for progress to be rigorously monitored and reported.

International Concern about Bushfire Crisis
Bishop Vincent Long, Chair of the Bishops Commission for Social Justice, Mission and Service, explains in an interview with German Catholic media that "this is a time to repair damage done to people, places, creatures, our communities and the earth". He says that "urgent action to address climate justice" is needed to "prevent such calamities in the future."

Discussion Guide for Still Listening to the Spirit
The Office for Social Justice has prepared a discussion guide for the anthology Still Listening to the Spirit. It can be used for personal reflection, or in a parish, school or community group context. The discussion starters for each of the 17 essays can assist in the communal discernment of ideas for action and feedback to the Discernment and Writing Groups for the Plenary Council. Cardinal Turkson’s Press Statement at the World Economic Forum
Cardinal Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development, has called for a "universal and intergenerational solidarity" in response to the "cry of the earth and the cry of the poor". Speaking at a press conference of the Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he recalled the wisdom of religious traditions that see the world as a cosmos.
