Farewell to Dr Sandie Cornish
Bishop Vincent Long says farewell to Director of the ACBC Office for Justice, Ecology and Peace, Dr Sandie Cornish. Sandie has been offered and accepted a full-time academic position with the Australian Catholic University. “As Sandie is moving to another chapter of her professional career, I wish her every blessing. This Commission and the Church in Australia are truly grateful for her witness, stewardship and service in challenging times.” Dr Sandie Cornish finishes on 11 July.

Applications for Office of Justice, Ecology and Peace Director Open
Applications are now open for the new Director of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference Office for Justice, Ecology and Peace. A position description is now available, and all applicants are asked to submit their CV and letter addressing the criteria by 18 July. The Director, Office for Justice, Ecology and Peace will promote the work of the Bishops Commission for Social Justice, Mission and Service in the field of social justice.

World Refugee Day Prayer Service: Summary and Resources
A prayer service for World Refugee Day was held online, led by the Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office and the ACBC Office for Justice, Ecology and Peace. It began with a beautiful sharing from Lulu Mitshabu, Africa Program Coordinator, Caritas Australia, regarding her own refugee story. Fr Fabio Baggio C.S., Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section, and Bishop Vincent Long also spoke celebrating refugees and championing the cause. The prayer service recording, leaders' guide and PowerPoint are available for use.

3 July - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday Resources
The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholic Council (NATSICC) has released the materials for parishes and schools to use on 3 July -- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday. This is an opportunity for Catholics across Australia to celebrate the gifts of First Nations people in our Church. The extensive resources include an opening video for Mass, liturgy notes, homily notes, youth activities, prayers, reflections, posters and music. Video presentations from the recent retreat are also available, including reflections on Aboriginal Spirituality and Caring for Our Common Home.

Social Justice Statement 2022-23
The Social Justice Statement 2022-23, Respect: Confronting Violence and Abuse, will be released in early August ahead of Social Justice Sunday on 28 August. A landing page for the site has been created which will house all of the resources available. As well as the statement, a prayer and action card, audio-visual material and promotional video will be loaded onto the site, available for all to use. Pre-ordering of printed statements is not available this year as a new system is in place.

Social Justice Sunday Liturgy Notes
Liturgy notes for Social Justice Sunday are now available online. The liturgy notes include prayers of the faithful, homily notes, parish bulletin notices, notes on each reading, a welcome, as well as music and hymn recommendations. The liturgy notes offer a beautiful reflection on the challenging themes and issues discussed in the Social Justice Statement 2022-23, Respect: Confronting Violence and Abuse. Promotional images and banners are also available now.
