1 September – 4 October is the Season of Creation. A worldwide coalition of Christian churches organises and runs this global event which calls for all to pray and act to protect our common home, or God’s Oikos.
The theme for this year is “A Home for All? Renewing the Oikos of God”. An Oikos is a Greek concept of family and their place of belonging. All Christians are urged to celebrate the season and go beyond their denomination.
“As followers of Christ from around the globe, we share a common role as caretakers of God’s creation. We see that our wellbeing is interwoven with its wellbeing. We rejoice in this opportunity to care for our common home and the sisters and brothers who share it.”
The Queensland Churches Environment Network is celebrating the start of Season of Creation with an ecumenical event with preaching from Archbishop Mark Coleridge.
Currently planned as an in-person event at St Stephen’s Cathedral, Brisbane, on the 1st of September, at 7pm all are welcome to join pending COVID restrictions and further information is available by contacting Jackie Fewtrell: firstname.lastname@example.org
